IDM Reporting

The goal of this hands-on lab is to get you exposed to the Sun IDM environment for the first time in which you will learn your first login using the differents idm interfaces.

Prerequisites

This hands-on lab assumes you have minimum programming experience. 

Software Needed

Before you begin, you need to install the following software on your computer. 

• Java Standard Development Kit (JDK™) version 5.0 (download)
  
• Sun Java System Identity Manager 7.1 (download)
• Apache Tomcat (download)
• MySql (download)

OS platforms you can use

• Windows
• Solaris x86, Solaris Sparc ( process is not cover)
  
• Linux (process is not cover)

Lab Exercises

• Exercise 0: Execute,Download and Configure Reports (20 minutes)
  
• Exercise 1: Create User Report (10 minutes)
  

(0.3) Configure Email Reports

            In this step, you are going to login into the The Identity Manager Administrator interface and Download  some reports.

1. Open a Web browser and type the following address into the address bar:

• http://localhost:8080/idm/

2. Enter the User ID and Password

•  Use the Configuratior account  

3. Click the Report tab and select the Run Report Page
4. Click the All Users Report  under the Report Name Colum. See the image below
   

5. The Edit Report page appears (see the image below), scrolldown the page and find the Email Report checkbox button.

6. Select the Email Report checkbox button.
7. Complete the Email Recipients textbox button with the configurator@idm.com  see the image below.
   
1. This button let you configure the "to" for your email report.

8.  Click the Run Button
   

9.  After you clicked the Run Button  the Report Results page appears.
1. Observe at this time the email was sent to your email box. In our previos lab we configured our email to be redirected to the notifications.txt file.
   

10.  Go to your notifications.txt file and validate the results sent by IDM after you run the report. You results should look like the image below.
• Observe that your notifications.txt file should located under the C:\IDM\Notification folder
  

Exercise 1: Create User Report

                The goal of this exercise is to let you experience about how to create a reports in the IDM Admin interface.

1. Create  User Report
   
2. Modify Report
   

(0.1) Create User Report

6. An  Edit a Report page appears.
7. Complete the report with the next information

• Report title: IDM_RPT_My All Users Report
• Observe the the RPT is a naming convention  used during the course. RPT=Report Object
• Report Summary: List all users in IDM
• Select only Identity Manager Account ID and Manager under the Multiselect button Select which Identity Manager attributes you would like to display for each user.

8. Click the Save Button
   
• The screen should look like the image below.
  

9. After you clicked on the save your report was created in IDM.See the image below.
10. Click on the Run Button under the report created before. IDM_RPT_My All Users Report
    

11. Your results should look like the image below.
    

(0.2) Modify Report

1. Click the Report tab and select the Run Report Page.
2. Click the IDM_RPT_My All Users Report   under the Report Name Colum.
   
3. The Edit Report page appears. See the image below.
4. Configure your report to only list the users with Configurator as a Manager
1. Select the User Manager is Checkbox
2. Under the Manager textbox write down configurator
5. Your screen should look like the image below.
6. Click Save button.
   

8. Click the Report tab and select the Run Report Page.
9. Click the IDM_RPT_My All Users Report   under the Run Button.
10. Your  results should look like the image below.
