Sun Tech Day Hands-on Lab Bring Your
Own Laptop (BYOL) Guideline
This
document lists the pre-requisites
in terms of hardware,
operating
environment, and software for the hands-on labs. Please read this
document
carefully and make sure that you have set up your laptop accordingly
for
a successful hands-on labs experience.
You MUST bring
your
own laptop to these hands-on labs. You MUST
also install necessary software on your laptop following software
installation
instructions for each lab mentioned below before coming to the
hands-on
labs.
Failure to do so will prevent you from attending the hands-on
labs during Sun Tech Days.

Software Requirement
- Please click on the hands-on lab topic below to download the lab
zip file and unzip it in a directory of your choice.
- Each lab has a lab document under
<directory_lab_zip_file_is_unzipped>/<labcode>/index.html.
For example, for the "NetBeans GUI Builder: Learn to Paint GUIs like
Matisse" hands-on lab, the lab zip file is
5250_netbeansmatisse.zip.
- Windows: If you unzipped it under C:\ directory, it will create
C:\netbeansmatisse. The lab document is
C:\netbeansmatisse\index.html
- Solaris/Linux: If you unzipped it under $HOME directory, it
will
create $HOME/netbeansmatisse. The lab document is
$HOME/netbeansmatisse/index.html
- Please read the "Software Needed" section of the lab document and
make sure you download and install them on your laptop before coming to
the labs. For your convenience, the online documens are provided.

The following hands-on labs will be
conducted as instructor-led
labs during Sun Tech Days. Each instructor-led lab will
be started with brief presentation and demos. Hard-copy
printouts will be provided for these labs. Please note that
the labs are conducted in English.
