1-day Spring Framework & Performance Workshop

1. Spring framework basics
   
• Refactoring HelloWorld application using Spring framework (0.5 hour lecture + 0.5 hour lab)
• Spring framework Dependency Injection Basics (0.5 hour lecture + 0.5 hour lab)
• Spring framework Dependency Injection Advanced (0.5 hour lecture + 0.5 hour lab) - if we have time
2. Spring framework Web-tier technologies
   
• Spring MVC (1 hour lecture + 1 hour lab)
3. Performance & memory management
   
• Memory profiling and Heap Analysis (0.5 hour lecture + 1 hour lab)
• Performance profiling (0.5 hour lecture + 0.5 hour lab)

Software Required

Please install the following software before coming to the workshop as described  here.

• Java Standard Development Kit (JDK™) version 6.0 ( download)
  
• If you already have installed JDK 5.0 or JDK 6.0, you can skip this.
• NetBeans IDE 6.1 ( download)
  
• When you install NetBeans IDE, it will ask you which JDK you want to use.

          Once you install NetBeans IDE 6.1, please install the following plug-in as described here.

• Spring framework NetBeans plug-in

• 3 months Java programing experience
